1,700 indigents finish Damayang Filipino Movement livelihood training program

SOME 1,700 Bulakenyos from the province 21 towns and cities completed the livelihood training programs provided by the Damayang Filipino Movement Inc of Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando and were given seed capitals and equipments during their mass graduation at the Capitol Gym here Tuesday afternoon.

Fernando said that the “graduates” were trained by the  DFMI in various livelihood programs like soap making, beads making, meat processing, candy making, chocolate making and massage therapy.

Umaasa ako na maipapakita natin na ang mga Bulakenyo ay laging nagsusumikap sa buhay at nawa’y magamit n gating mga kababayan ang mga livehood programs na ito para makatulong sa p-ang-araw- araw nilang pangangailanag,” Fernando said.

The vice governor, who is also a popular movie actors and plays a major role in the hit TV series “ikaw lang ang Iibigin” of ABS-CBN, said the seed capitals comes from his earnings as an actor.

“It,s my own way of giving back. Through DFMI I want to help the needy people of Bulacan and I am happy that those who graduated from ourv programs are now earning honest money,” the vice governor said.

He said that since DFMI started its llivelihood training program in 2008, more or less 20,000 Bulakenyos have already benifited.

Fernando also added that since 2014, at least 10,000 out of school youths have complete crash course in the IT program dubbed as “Computer on Wheels”.

“Our oldest graduate in the “Computer on Wheels” program is 80 years old while the youngest is 16 years old,” he said.

Aside from the livelihood programs, Fernando said that DFMI is also providing regular medical and dental missions especially to remote and far-flung areas of the province.
