2 arrested for selling counterfeit cigarettes in Bulacan


CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Intelligence police operatives have arrested two suspects  for selling counterfeit cigarettes in Barangay San Vicente in this city on Wednesday evening (Jan. 6).

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the suspects as Bernard Allen Contrillas and Joshua Alcoriza who were arrested in an entrapment operation under the supervision of Maj. Jansky Andrew Jaafar caught the duo in the act of selling of fake Marlboro cigarettes to a police poseur buyer.

Police recovered 25 rims of counterfeit cigarettes, marked money, and a blue Yamaha Mio sporty.

The 25 rims of Marlboro red cigarettes were certified as counterfeit on Wednesday by Solomon Dador Jr., an authorized representative of Philippine Marlboro Fortune Tobacco Corporation Inc.

Prior to the entrapment operation, a test buy for two packs of the same items were conducted on December 10 last year and were certified fake by the same company.

The two are now facing criminal complaints about violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. (RONDA BALITA Online)
