CAMP GEN ALEJO S SANTOS, Bulacan — Two drug personalities were killed and 20 suspects were arrested in simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations in several towns and a city on Wednesday (Aug. 22).
Bulacan Acting Provincial Director Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna identified the fatalities as Jhon Carlo Maglanque Alias “Chukoy,” of legal age from Brgy. Poblacion, Baliwag, Bulacan, and Alias “Jun,” other data unknown.
Maglanque was killed after a brief exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the police operatives headed by Supt. Marlon Santos, Baliwag chief of police.
“Said operation stemmed from a reports that the suspect is responsible in robbing a disabled person (mute) three months ago and also an alleged supplier of illegal drugs,” Santos said.
Recovered from the scene were a caliber .22 revolver with marking Black Widow, without serial number loaded with three pieces of ammunition, 4 pieces heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu, a coin purse and P500 as marked money.
Meanwhile, based on the report of Santa Maria police, Alias Jun was killed after engaging in a firefight against police operatives about 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
The suspect resisted arrest and a commotion ensued between the suspect and poseur buyer until the suspect was able to draw a cal. .38 and fired towards the police officer but missed.
“The places in Bulacan where the simultaneous police operations were conducted included Bustos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Meycauayan, San Ildefonso, San Rafael, Plaridel, Meycauayan and Santa Maria,” Bersaluna said.
Bersaluna identified the arrested suspects as Reynold Corbito, Edna Calceta, Orlando Del Rosario, Gilbert Corpuz, Mark Angelo Reyes, Aldrin Flores, Meynard Japsay, Nadia Datuin, Alvin Lozano, Rodolfo Sotto, Dennis Sotto, Michael Barican, Michael Delos Reyes, Jam Ramos, Eliza Caugiran, Bobby Digueño, Roderick Santiago, Glenn Bernardino, Jobel Serapio and Rodolfo Salazar.
A total of 37 pieces of plastic sachets of suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, and buy-bust money were confiscated from the suspects during the operations.
Confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination while the criminal complaint about Violation of RA 9165 is being prepared against the arrested suspects.
