CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Three members of a gun-for-hire syndicate operating in Central Luzon were killed in an armed encounter in Barangay Camias, San Miguel town on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 27).
Based on the report of Lt. Col. Rizalino Andaya, commander of the 2nd Bulacan Police Mobile Force Company (BPMFC), identified one of the fatalities as Gilbert Mondares while two of the dead suspects remained unidentified together with their two companions that eluded arrest.
Andaya on Monday morning (Sept. 28) said based on the intelligence reports, Mondares, who has a criminal case for Violation of RA 8294 issued by Hon. Celso Baguio of RTC Gapan City Branch 36, was spotted in San Miguel town and a warrant of arrest was to be served by the elements of 2nd BPMFC
“The suspect together with his four companions, were spotted on board a red Nissan Urvan with license plate No. NOJ-446 and were heading towards the town proper of San Miguel,” Andaya told RONDA BALITA Online in a phone interview.
Andaya led the immediate set up of a combined 2nd BPMFC, San Miguel police and Intelligence operatives of the First Scout Ranger Regiment of the Philippine Army checkpoint operation around 3:30 pm along Cagayan Valley Road in Barangay Camias in the said town.
“Upon seeing the checkpoint, the suspects stopped and scampered to different directions,” Andaya stated.
The police and Army personnel engaged in a gunfight that eventually led to the neutralization of three of the suspects while their two other companions were able to escaped and fled on foot towards Barangay San Vicente.
Visible from the encounter site were caliber. 45 pistol, M16 rifle, cal.38 revolver, sketches/plan (written in yellow paper), hand grenade and three 9mm fired cartridge cases.
“Patuloy ang isinasagawa naming imbestigasyon upang matukoy ang pangalan ng dalawa pang napatay na suspek at pagkakilanlan ng dalawang nakatakas na kasama,” Andaya said. (RONDA BALITA Online)
