6 fishermen arrested for illegal fishing in Paombong

PAOMBONG, Bulacan — Six suspects were arrested by personnel of Paombong police and Bantay Dagat for illegal fishing at Sitio Pulo, Brgy. Masukul in this town on Thursday evening.

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan top cop identified the arrested suspects as Crisanto De Asis, 42 years old; Reynaldo Santos, 45; Marcelo De Jesus, 61; Rodrigo De Jesus, 33; Ramonsito De Jesus, 32; and Mark Anthony Rojas, 33 years old.

Based on the report, operatives of Paombong police and Bantay Dagat of the Municipality of Paombong were conducting an anti-illegal fishing operation in the coastal areas of Brgy. Masukul, in the said town when they saw a large boat while in the act of illegal fishing using fine net and metal board (karikot) that prompted the police officers to call over the fishing boat.

Instead of stopping, the boat speeded up and tried to outrun the police officers who were on board a smaller boat.

After chasing, operatives were able to catch the suspects, 8 coolers of assorted fishes, crabs, and shrimps with an estimated amount of P8,000 were confiscated from the suspects.

Further upon their arrest, one of the suspects was found in possession of one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu, one-piece cut size aluminum foil with suspected shabu residue, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

“Appropriate criminal complaints against the suspects are now being prepared for filing in court,” Cajipe said. (RONDA BALITA Online)
