SIX policemen from the Caranglan Municipal Police Station in Nueva Ecija were ordered removed and relieved from their post yesterday (Tuesday) for extortion activities.
In a text message on Tuesday evening, Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, regional police director for Central Luzon, he ordered the relief of the policemen and arrest of two civilians after an entrapment operation was conducted at the Digdig, Caranglan police checkpoints for extortion or “kotong” activities.
Corpus identified the arrested policemen as SPO1 Antonito Otic, PO3 Danilo Sotelo, PO3 Ronald Buncad,. PO3 Oliver Antonio, PO2 Rodrigo Edralin, and PO2 Romeo Nuñez III
While the two civilians were identified as Ramon Cabilangan and Darwin Lagisma who acted as collectors for the extortion activities.
Recovered from the eight suspects were “proceed money” in different denominations while the issued firearms and personal properties of the six policemen were turned over to their police chief, Corpus said.
Corpus added that the arrested suspects will be brought to Camp Crame.
He added that “We did not fall short in our warnings and memo directives reminding all PNP personnel to never engaged in illegal activities. This will serve as a stern warning to all PNP personnel and we will continue to weed out hoodlums and punish the undisciplined among our ranks.” (RONDA Balita Online News)
