CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — This province registered seven new confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, including a five-month-old baby girl, raising to 255 the total number of infections as of Friday (Aug. 7).
The Nueva Ecija Inter-Agency Task Force said the baby girl is a grandchild of a couple from Barangay Vega, Bongabon town, who tested positive of the virus.
The 58-year-old grandmother who was named Patient 254 is believed to have been exposed to her husband, Patient 223, whose case was confirmed much earlier than the two being the first COVID- 19 case in Bongabon.
The other new cases include a 62-year-old woman from Barangay Caimito, Palayan City; a 69-year-old woman from Barangay Buloran, San Antonio; a 22-year-old female health care worker from Barangay Aduas Sur, this city; a 27-year-old man from Barangay San Anton, San Leonardo; and a 39-year-old male vendor from Barangay MS Garcia here.
The task force added that the woman from Barangay Buliran, San Antonio who was named Patient 250 died on August 5, the 12th fatality for Covid-19 in Nueva Ecija’s tally.
With 123 recoveries and 12 deaths, this province as of Friday has 120 active cases, some of them asymptomatic, the task force report showed.
