CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has denounced the arrest of its Bulacan coordinator in Marilao town on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 16, 2019).
In a statement, ACT identified its Bulacan coordinator as Digna Mateo who was allegedly arrested by elements of the Intelligence Services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on board three vans around 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Marilao, Bulacan.
Mateo was believed to be brought in Camp Alejo Santos in the City of Malolos for questioning, however, Col. Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan Police Director, did not reply to the inquiry if there was a teacher arrested in Marilao town on the said day.
ACT added that Mateo has reported that a riding-in-tandem was tailing her last week while she was on her way home after a day of campaigning for the election of ACT Central Luzon union.
ACT decried her arrest as part of the red-tagging scheme under Executive Order No. 70, also known as the National Task Forced to End Local Communist Insurgency.
It added that Zhaydee Cabañales who is also a member of ACT in Bukidnon survived a gun attack on Tuesday while at school. (RONDA BALITA Online)
