Albayalde names new PNP spox

CAMP CRAME, Quezon City — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Director General Oscar David Albayalde has named Police Senior Superintendent Benigno B. Durana Jr., as the new PNP spokesperson and acting chief of the PNP Public Information Office.
Durana, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class 1988, replaced Chief Superintendent John Crescencio Bulalacao who is set to assume the new post as Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 6 on Tuesday.
Prior to his new assignment, he was the team leader of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in Italy for two years.
He is a graduate of Edward S. Mason Program on Public Policy and Management at the Harvard Kennedy School for mid‐career Master in Public Administration in 2013.
In addition, the new PNP spokesperson has a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Peace and Peace and Security Administration from Bicol University (2004) and Master in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines (1996).
Durana was erstwhile Intelligence Research Center Chief of Directorate for Intelligence in 2010 and as Senior Executive Assistant at the Office of the Chief, PNP in 2009.
He commanded the Aklan Police Provincial Office as Provincial Director in 2007 and earlier served as Chief of Police of Quezon City Police District – Cubao Station.
He also served as staff officer in various capacities in the National Capital Region Police Office, Headquarters Support Service, and Special Action Force.
In 1999, he was also the Chief, Public Information Office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
The PNP spokesperson is the official mouthpiece and publicist of the PNP on public information matters involving internal security and general peace and order.
The PNP spokesperson is a Personal Staff Officer of the Chief PNP, and concurrent capacity as Chief of the Public Information Office is the lead implementor of the PNP Media Relations Policy. (RONDA Balita Online News)
