CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan — A barangay (village) chairman was shot dead in front of the barangay hall by an unidentified armed suspect while having a conversation with his co-barangay employee in Barangay San Rafael II in this city Friday night (Aug. 31).
Initial report sent by P/Supt. Fitz Macariola, CSJDM police chief to Bulacan PNP acting director Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna, the victim was identified as Deogracias Milallos, 58 years old, male, Barangay Chairman of San Rafael II and presently residing at Blk 2, Brgy. San Rafael II, CSJDM, Bulacan
“The victim was in front of barangay hall, when shot by an unidentified armed suspect several times about 10:45 pm in different parts of his body and rushed to the nearest hospital but pronounced dead later,” Macariola said.
It was learned that the victim was having a conversation with three other barangay officials identified as Edelito De Mesa a barangay kagawad Ricardo De Castro, chief tanod and Elmerito Atanacio, barangay investigator.
“Investigators are still establishing the motives behind the killing of the barangay official, Macariola added.
The last village chief killed in this province was Genaro Lopez, barangay chief of Labne, San Miguel, Bulacan. He was shot dead on May 25, 2018, by a motorcycle riding in tandem in front of a restaurant in Barangay Mojon, City of Malolos.
Barangay Chairman Rodrigo Rodriguez of Barangay Mabalasbalas in San Rafael, Bulacan, an incumbent village chief was also killed at broad daylight on April 26, 2018, by a riding in tandem. (RONDA Balita Online News)
