Barangay kagawad, 5 others arrested in illegal gambling in Paombong


CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Six were arrested including a barangay kagawad in an anti-illegal gambling operation conducted by the operatives of Paombong police on Friday (Dec. 21) about 5:40 am in Purok 4, Brgy. Sto Niño, Paombong, Bulacan.

P/Sr. Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, Bulacan Provincial Director identified the arrested suspects as 1) Angelito Santos, 53 years old, a Brgy. Kagawad of Brgy Sto. Niño, Paombong, Bulacan; Percival Paguio, 35 years old; Leopoldo Dioniso, 50 years old; Fernando Martell Jr., 49 years old; Edwin Topacio, 62 years old and Reynaldo Paguio, 61 years old, all are resident of Brgy. Sto. Niño Paombong, Bulacan.

Base on the report by Paombong police, information from a concerned citizen was received that there is on-going illegal gambling particularly mahjong and tong-its in an abandoned house at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Paombong.

The operative of Paombong MPS conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects while playing tong its and mahjong, one of the suspects managed to elude arrest.

Confiscated from the suspects were one (1) set of Majong tiles and one (1) deck of playing cards. Confiscated bet money in Tong-Its game has a total of three hundred thirty pesos (Php 330) while confiscated bet money for the mahjong game has a total of four hundred fifty-five pesos (Php 455).

Appropriate criminal complaints are now being prepared against the suspects.

Bulacan Police is continuously and relentlessly implementing its intensified campaign against all forms of illegal gambling in the province particularly to the areas where illegal gambling activities are said to be rampant. (RONDA Balita Online News)
