Bulacan: 5 dead, 95 nabbed in anti-drug operations


CITY OF MALOLOS – Five were killed in Bulacan’s anti-drug police operations on Wednesday.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director, identified the fatalities as Arwin Martin alias Daboy and an alias Popeye who was killed in the City of San Jose del Monte; Sonny Pablo Torres alias Sonny Boy in the City of Malolos; Rommel Mercado alias Nognog in Santa Maria and an unidentified person in Calumpit.

Besides the fatalities, 95 suspects were also apprehended in the province-wide simultaneous operations against illegal drugs involving 61 police operations with 53 buy-bust operations, three implementations of search warrants, three services of warrants of arrest, one police checkpoint, and one police response, Caramat said.

A total of 277 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 170.949 grams; 12 plastic sachets of marijuana weighing 21.86 grams with a combined street value of P409,500.00 were recovered from the suspects.

Caramat added that nine firearms consisting of two calibers .38; a homemade shotgun; an improvised caliber .22 airgun; an improvised airgun; a caliber .45 airgun replica; a homemade firearm; a Phoenix Arms caliber .23; a “sumpak” and a hand grenade were also confiscated from the suspects.
