Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director, earlier confirmed to RONDA Balita that among the militant groups that provided support to the striking Nagkakaisang Mangagawa ng Nutri-Asia Inc. are Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) from Pandi town and Kilusang Mayo Uno.

Pat Tupas. Kadamay municipal leader of Pandi, also confirmed to RONDA Balita that they together with other labor groups have joined and provided support to the striking workers of Nutri-Asia until their labor disputes with its management are settled.

Police claim the violence started with the unruly ralliers and the ralliers point to the police who started the violent dispersal where scores of police and picket line ralliers were hurt.

Bersaluna said that they have apprehended 21 of the ralliers who are mostly members of the Kadamay.

The arrested ralliers are facing several charges that include direct assault, physical injuries, resistance and disobedience of a person in authority, public assembly without a permit, child abuse for using minor and damage to properties, Bersaluna pointed out.

With the dispersal of the rallies, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) posted on their website their strong condemnation of “the Duterte
the regime and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the violent dispersal of striking workers of Nutriasia.”.

It added, “The Party enjoins the broad masses of workers, students and other sectors to extend support and solidarity with the striking workers of Nutriasia, as well as workers in other companies, in their struggle to defend their right to regular jobs and for wage increases.”

Commenting on the CPP statement, Bersaluna said “ganun talaga mga NPA mga yan, Kadamay [ang] breeding ground nila ( it is just natural, those are NPAs [New Peoples Army] and Kadamay is their breeding ground.)”

He added the strike in Nutri-Asia has already ended as the striking workers voluntarily abandoned their picket line.

Meanwhile, Tupas said one of the picket line ralliers whom he identified as a certain Rudy Magalona who was arrested by Marilao police operatives still remains unaccounted for and is still missing as of this writing.

Tupas also confirmed that the picket line has already been lifted and the striking workers together with the militant groups are still planning on what will be their next move. (RONDA Balita Online News)
