CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, regional police director for Central Luzon, has ordered an in-depth probe on the death of Fr. Marcelito Paez on Monday night in Jaen, Nueva Ecija by unidentified assailants.
In a statement released Tuesday night to mediamen, Corpus said, “ I guarantee that your police will leave no stone unturned and will exert all means to get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident. You can be sure of our total commitment to ensure successful resolution of the case through proper and scrupulous investigation.”
He added, “Still we continue to solicit the support of the general public in order to maintain peace and order and safety and security of our communities.”
Paez, 72, a retired Catholic priest, was driving his Toyota Innova along the Jaen-Zaragosa Road when unidentified assailants blocked the vehicle and fired successive shots.
The victim succumbed to the bullet wounds that he received while being treated at the Gonzales General Hospital in the municipality of San Leonardo.
