TOP provincial executives in Central Luzon are preparing the “blue prints” for a booming region that will make it the next “metropolis of growth” in the Asia-Pacific region.
This was bared during the third meeting of the Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation Inc., (CLGCFI), an organization composed of all the governors in the seven provinces in Central Luzon, investment promotion officers and provincial officials of the Department of Trade and Industry, held at the Barcie International Center of the La Consolacion University of the Philippines in Barangay Catmon, City of Malolos recently.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, vice president of the CLGCFI, welcomed the different representatives headed by CLGCFI president Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap.
In his brief message, Alvarado cited the strategic location of Central Luzon as the next most convenient international hub of growth and development because the region is blessed with seas, mountains and territories ideal for big investments.
“Kung ang Pilipinas ay kilala bilang Perlas ng Silangan, ang Gitnang Luzon naman ay maituturing na Hiyas ng Pilipinas (If the Philippines is known as the Pearl of the East, Central Luzon can be considered as Jewel of the Philippines),” he said.
Alvarado, a former chairman of the Regional Development Council in Region 3, said that the region is now oozing with big opportunities that could bring back its old glory prior to the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
“When it rains gold, bring out the bucket not the thimble,” Alvarado said quoting an English poem.
CLGCFI president Yap, said that as part of their goal to bring Central Luzon outside and into the realm of bustling metropolis, their group has earlier launched a slogan making contest that will be the “battle cry” of their movement to spur more growth and development in Central Luzon in the field of investments, cultural and historical heritage and tourism.
Among the entries were “G.A.I.N Central Luzon” (Aurora); “Central Luzon Beyond the Usual (Bataan); “Clark…Subic…Central Luzon , Your Top Investment Destination Choice !” (Zambales); Central Luzon: “Experience the BEST in the Heart of Luzon” (Tarlac); “Explore it, Find It, Love It” (Nueva Ecija); “Central Luzon: Logical Solution for Business Location” (Bulacan); and “the Region’s Investnebt Center” (Pampanga).
After studying the entries, Yap announced that the winning slogan is the entry of Tarlac because of its acronym BEST ( Business friendly, Environment Friendly, Strategic location and Tourism) that aptly describe the region.
Aside from the slogan, Yap said the CLGCFI will also have its own promotional logo.
“With unity, cooperation and oneness, we will make Central Luzon great again and we will keep on charging forward,” she added. (Emil G. Gamos/PNA)
