DINAGAT Islands Gov. Kaka Bag-ao condemn in the strongest possible terms the brutal killing of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Wenefredo Olofernes.
Initial reports say that Olefernes was on his motorcycle with a companion when he was gunned down by still unidentified assailants who were riding in tandem in Surigao City Sunday morning with motives behind it is yet
To be determined.
Bag-ao said they are in contact with the Philippine National Police in Surigao City and the Caraga Region in order to provide any assistance in the investigation and to put into the light all the facts surrounding this incident.
Board Member Olofernes was on his second term in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. In the recent elections, he ran as an Independent and emerged on top of the race in the First Provincial District with 13,141 votes from the Municipalities of Basilisa, Libjo, Loreto, and Tubajon.
The governor expressed his sincerest condolences to Olefernes’s family, friends, loved ones, staff, and colleagues in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and said: “We lost a good leader in Dinagat Islands today.”
He added, “We will ensure the speedy resolution of this criminal act along with the prosecution and conviction of all those involved in the death of Board Member Wenefredo Olofernes.” (RONDA Balita Online News)
