SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija — A suspected drug pusher was killed after engaging operatives of the station drug enforcement unit in an armed encounter during an anti-illegal drug operation in Brgy. Abar, 1st in this city recently.

P/Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, Chief of Police, San Jose City, identified the suspect as Michael Domingo, legal age, male, and a resident of Brgy. Abar 1st, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

Bruno said that city police staged a drug bust against Domingo, where a police officer who posed as a buyer successfully bought a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from the suspect.

After the suspect got a hold of the marked money used by the poseur-buyer, the back-up police authorities allegedly immediately ran towards the suspect to implement the arrest, Bruno said.

However, upon seeing the authorities, the suspect allegedly pulled out a caliber .38 revolver and fired at the arresting team. The police were able to duck and shun away from the gunshots and retaliated in self-defense.

Bruno added that the suspect sustained gunshots in his body which led to his immediate death, while no police officers were reported to have sustained gunshots or any injury.

Scene of the Crime Operatives arrived at the area to process the crime scene and recovered 1 piece of caliber .38; and 2 pieces of fired cartridge cases of caliber .9 mm and an undetermined amount of illegal drugs. (RONDA Balita Online News)
