Former CPP-NPA leader arrested


CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Former chair of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and head of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City on Tuesday.

PRO3 Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia identified the former NPA leader as Rodolfo Salas, 72 years old also known as “Kumander Bilog,” resident of Doña Carmen St., Mountainview, Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.

Salas was arrested by personnel of the Special Concern Unit-Regional Intelligence Division 3, 301st Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 and Angeles City Police Intelligence who were armed with Warrant of Arrest for fifteen (15) counts of Murder under Criminal Case numbers 08-262163 (formerly H-1581) (l& 14-306533 – 14-306546) signed by Hon. Thelma Bunyi-Medina, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 32, Manila, NCR dated August 28, 2019.

Sermonia also said that the operating team was able to seize one unit of Para-Ordnance cal. 45 pistol with serial number P113180, One Hundred Seventy- Four pieces of different ammunition and two Cal. 45 magazine assembly.

The successful arrest of Kumander Bilog is the result of accurate information provided by former members of the NPA who have returned to the folds of the law and availed of the livelihood program and financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP.

Appropriate charges for Violation of RA 10591 is being prepared for filing in court against Salas. (RONDA BALITA Online)
