Fugitive killed, 6 more wanted persons arrested in Bulacan


CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A man wanted for robbery was killed in a shootout with Bulacan police in Norzagaray on Wednesday (Feb. 24) while six other wanted persons were arrested in a series of manhunt operations.

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan provincial director, identified the neutralized suspect as Bernie Lastimoso resident of Brgy. Tigbe, Norzagaray, Bulacan.

Based on the report of P/Lt. Col. Avelino Protacio II, Officer in Charge of Norzagaray police, reveal that on said day at about 2 a.m., the tracker team and SDEU of Norzagaray police served a warrant against the said suspect who has been in hiding for the crime of robbery with a warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Presiding Judge Efren B Tienzo of RTC-Branch 13, Malolos, Bulacan on January 13, 2021.

When the operatives were about to serve the order of the court, Lastimoso tried to escape and readily opened fired to authorities which caused a gunshot at the vest of one of the apprehending officers, the lawmen fired back which resulted in the death of the said wanted person.

Recovered from the shootout scene were four fired cartridge cases of cal .9mm, one cal .38 revolver loaded with two fired cartridges, one live ammo, one fired bullet of cal .38, and four sachets of shabu.

Likewise, different manhunt operations were conducted by the tracker teams of Baliwag, Bocaue, Hagonoy, Meycauayan, San Ildefonso, Sta. Maria City/Municipal Police Stations, 1st PMFC, and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company resulted in the arrest of six more wanted persons.

Cajipe identified the arrested fugitive as Annalyn De Leon resident of Brgy. Taal, Bocaue; Rosario Perez resident of Brgy. San Agustin, Hagonoy, both arrested for Violation of BP 22 (Anti-Bouncing Check Law); Mario Alejandro, a resident of Brgy. Perez, Meycauayan for Rape by Sexual Assault in relation to RA 7610 (2 Counts); Christian Patrick Manalang, of Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, Sta. Maria for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide; Marilou Cruz, resident of Brgy. Pinaod, San Ildefonso for Syndicated Estafa and Anthony Magtalas, of Brgy. San Roque, Baliwag, for Violation of Sec 5(i) of RA 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children).

The said wanted persons are presently under the custody of the arresting unit/police stations for proper disposition.
