Man, 87, kills self after shooting 3 family members in Calumpit


CALUMPIT, Bulacan — An 87-year-old senior citizen killed himself after shooting his wife, daughter, and daughter-in-law in Brgy. Gatbuca here on Monday early morning (Sept. 3)

Acting Bulacan Police Director Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna identified the suspect as Luduvico De Guzman while his wife is identified as Adelaida De Guzman y Capinpin, 73 years old, his daughter is Jannette Gomez y De Guzman, 50 and daughter-in-law Myrna Lubao, all resident of Brgy. Gatbuca, Calumpit.

Based on the of Calumpit police, the suspect shot the victims due to his jealousy of his wife allegedly was having an affair with priests identified as Rev. Fr. Garcia, Fr. Manicad.

His three victims survived the shooting, sustaining gunshot wounds only in the legs, but De Guzman was declared dead on arrival at the Sta. Cruz Hospital in Calumpit. His remains were later brought to the Superior Funeral Homes for paraffin testing and autopsy.

Police said a certain Luchie Mercado reported the shooting incident to the Calumpit Police, prompting authorities to respond.

Local police found the victims inside the room of their house who sustained gunshot wounds on their legs while the suspect was found lying on a separate room who fired a gun on his mouth.

Subsequently, the Calumpit rescue team rushed the suspect to Sta. Cruz Hospital in Calumpit, Bulacan but was declared dead on arrival by the attending Physician. Meanwhile, the victims were rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital in Malolos City for immediate treatment.

Bulacan SOCO Team processed the crime scene and recovered one caliber 38 revolver Smith and Wesson, without a serial number, loaded with 5 live ammo and 1 fired cartridge case and three pieces of fired bullet.
