CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN, Bulacan — City Mayor Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica and Vice Mayor Josefina O. Violago led Wednesday’s groundbreaking (Oct. 9) and time-capsule laying ceremony for the new world-class sports complex in Barangay Banga in this city.
Villarica said the new Meycauayan Sports Complex is the first public sports center with world-class amenities such as track and field oval with sports rubber flooring, basketball, badminton and tennis courts, eco-tourism parks and offices with a bridge over the lagoon.
“The new sports complex will have approximately 22,065.78 square meters land area with an estimated budget of P74 million and may also be served our evacuation center during calamities,” Villarica added.
The lady mayor also thanked his husband Bulacan 4th, District Cong. Henry Villarica, a former mayor of the City of Meycauayan because during his husband’s time this sports complex was materialized and she only continued and implemented it to start the construction.
Meanwhile, the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) head Engineer Gil Maglaqui said the projected completion of the new sports complex will be in the 1st quarter of 2021.
“This is a much-deserved breakthrough for the people of the Meycauayan to have a perfect edifice to house world-class sports amenities to be proud of.
Present during the ceremony were the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led by Councilor Catherine Abacan, Jerimeco Dulalia, Mario Aguirre, Mary Christine Paguio, Arnaldo Velasco, Mario Berboso, Dhon M. Banez, Atty. Larissa Abracero, Wilfredo Macatulad, Anna Kathrina Hernandez, barangay officials, department heads of the local government and city government employees to witness another milestone in the history of Meycauayan.
On-going at the moment are perimeter fencing, track, and field construction and drainage canals and landscaping throughout the Meycauayan Sports Complex. (RONDA Balita Online)
