Millions worth of counterfeit cigarettes seized in Bulacan


MEYCAUAYAN CITY, Bulacan — Almost P200 million worth of counterfeit cigarettes and documentary stamps were seized and confiscated in a warehouse in this city on Tuesday (Nov. 6) by joint operatives of government agencies led by the Bureau of Customs.

The operation was conducted by virtue of Letter of Authority with Reference Number 11-06-071-2018 from the Department of Finance/ Bureau of Customs on a warehouse in Block 2 Lot 8 Hi-Zex Drive Corner Dowlex Drive Extention Poly Land Sterling Industrial Park Barangay Iba in this city.

The raiding team was able to seize counterfeited cigarettes worth more or less P106,400,000 together with 12 boxes of counterfeited tax stamps worth more or less P93,600,000.

Initial investigation showed that the counterfeit items were concealed in various appliances boxes.

The seized pieces of evidence were turned over to personnel of the Bureau of Customs for inventory and proper disposition. (RONDA Balita Online News)
