Motorcycle rider evaded Comelec checkpoint, died in shoot-out

PANDI, Bulacan — An unidentified motorcycle-riding suspect was neutralized in a Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint manned by Pandi police in Barangay Masuso on Monday ( Feb. 4) at about 9:50 p.m., P/Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan Provincial Director said.

Based on the report of P/Chief Insp. Avelino Protacio, acting Chief of Police Pandi Municipal Police Station (MPS), a speeding motorcycle riding in tandem evaded the Comelec checkpoint by Pandi PNP.

A brief chase followed as the back rider engaged the lawmen in a firefight which resulted in the death of one of the unidentified riders while the driver managed to escape.

Recovered from the crime scene were six plastic sachets of suspected “shabu”; one caliber 38. Smith and Wesson revolver without serial number loaded with 5 ammunition; one fired cartridge case; 4 fired cartridges case for caliber 9mm and 1 black RUSI motorcycle without plate number.

A follow-up operation was immediately conducted for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspect.

On the other hand, P/Supt. Joel Aparejado, Guiguinto chief of police reported that two drug peddlers were arrested while selling illegal drugs to an undercover agent in Brgy. Tabang, Guiguinto also on Monday at about 1:30 p.m.

The suspects were identified as Alejandro Dulatre y Cabije, 46 years old, married, barker; and Glenn De Guzman y Miclat, 36 years old, married, tricycle driver, both are residents of Brgy. Sta Cruz, Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Confiscated were three (3) plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” and buy-bust money. The arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory for appropriate examination, while criminal charges against them are now being prepared for filing in court.
