‘Oplan Angry Bird’ launches by Bulacan police to beef-up anti-crime campaign

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — In order to curb all forms of criminality in this province, Bulacan PPO under the stewardship of P/Col. Chito G. Bersaluna launched its stepped-up anti-crime campaign dubbed as “Oplan Angry Bird” from July 15 to July 21, 2019, the week-long pilot implementation of the said campaign.

In a press conference on Monday, Bersaluna said that ninety-seven operations were conducted by twenty municipal, three city police stations including the Bulacan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) during the pilot week implementation of “Oplan Angry Bird”.

“Forty-six of which are anti-illegal drugs operations, forty-two are Served Warrant of Arrest, two implementations of the search warrant, three anti-illegal gambling operations, and four other police response were conducted,” Bersaluna said.

In a span of one week under the Oplan Angry Bird implementation, Bersaluna said a total of 144 suspects were arrested and seized were 500 grams of shabu worth PHP3.4 million in a single operation, 261 more pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu in the other operations, as well as 11 sachets and two teabags of dried “marijuana” leaves.

Likewise, he added that assorted drug paraphernalia, one undocumented firearm, several ammunitions, playing cards, bet money, and other gambling paraphernalia had been seized.

With the ultimate aim of denying criminals with their nefarious activities, Bulacan PPO has launched “Oplan Angry Bird” a renewed campaign against Anti-Illegal Drugs, Implementation of Search Warrant against Loose Firearms, Manhunt Charlie and MRC/S by conducting intensified police operations focusing on the impounding of undocumented/unregistered motorcycles and arrest of violators of Municipal and City ordinances and RRRD directives.

The arrested suspects and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination. While appropriate criminal complaints against them are now being prepared for filing in court.

“A review of our current anti-criminality effort was made to make the necessary adjustment and enforcement in our anti-crime measures, thus “Oplan Angry Bird “was launched,” Bersaluna added.

Bersaluna would like to urge the public especially the Bulakenos to always be on guard, participate and develop a strong cooperation with our police officers and report to us any suspicious personalities, activities and incidents in your respective areas so that we will be able to prevent criminals from their nefarious activities and arrest those who violate the law.
