COTABATO CITY – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives nabbed two drug suspects during search warrant operations conducted in Pikit, North Cotabato, on Wednesday (OCT. 31).
Neil Liansing, PDEA-North Cotabato provincial director, identified the arrested suspects as Bajunaid Ali, 40 years old, laborer, married, a resident of Barangay Forth Pikit, Pikit, Cotabato, was positive for four (4) sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P20,000.
After two hours, another set of operatives implemented search operations at the residence of Richard and Danny Calungsod. Richard was able to elude the arrest after sensing the presence of the operatives, however, Danny was arrested because of the confiscated 5 sachets of suspected shabu during the operation with an estimated value of P30,000
“He managed to escape before our raiding team reached his home,” Liansing said.
Armed with search warrants issued by a local court, the PDEA agents–backed by personnel from the Pikit police and Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion–swooped down on their targets around 3:00 a.m. and got Ali and Calungsod.
Liansing said the arrested suspects are members of a local drug syndicate operating in Pikit and other nearby towns in the province. They were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. With a report from PNA
