CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga — Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director-General Harold Clavite on Wednesday emphasized the role of the Department of Energy (DOE) in promoting the availability and supply of energy in the country.
“Through the Build Build Build program, known to be the most ambitious infrastructure program in the history of the Philippines, and the commitment of Dutertenomics in seeing stable and consistent growth, it is necessary for us to understand that energy, its availability, and supply, is key in making all of these things happen,” he said during the Clark leg of the DOE E-Power Mo Smart Energy Utilization Forum and Stakeholders Conference.
He added that there is a need for a sustainable and efficient energy supply to ensure the economic growth and development.
“The (current) Philippine Development Plan, which aims to raise six billion people out of poverty through sound economic measures by 2022, could not come to realization without robust and growing industries, whose energy needs will only continue to grow as years pass,” Clavite added.
He furthered that E-Power Mo intends to reach 86 percent of the energy consumers and raise the awareness of the ability to influence and manage their energy supply.
E-Power Mo is part of DOE’s continuing effort to invest knowledge and sound information to energy consumers and stakeholders.
It highlights energy programs, opportunities, development plans and policies, financing, and best practices, as well as energy supply and demand outlook.
Aside from the plenary, it had six breakout sessions focusing on Downstream Oil and Natural Gas Sector, Upstream Sector, Renewable Energy Sector, Power Sector, Alternative Fuels and Energy Efficiency Sector, and Consumer Sector.
Prior to this, a similar activity was held in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
