CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City — Amidst the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz, Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Director led the decent burial of the skeletal remains of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) around 9:30 am Thursday (Nov. 1) in the hinterlands of Brgy. Lawan Lawan, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte.
RD Cruz visited the exact area where the remains were exhumed and eventually went to the cemetery to give decent burial for the victims. He also dropped by at the wake of Roldan Mansamahan, a CAFGU member slain by the CNTs on October 28, 2018.
“The death of our IPs is a blatant human rights violation committed by the terrorists who masquerade as pro-life and pro-people. The masses shall be awakened to the reality that under the CNTs, there is no justice system or rule of law,” RD Cruz said.
Investigations will be conducted to identify and file charges against the assailants.
“We thank the security forces, local government units, tribal leaders and the community for helping us in giving a decent burial to the victims,” the region’s police chief added.
On the other hand, PRO13 appealed to the rebels to give up their arms and become beneficiaries of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
