CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan, Dec. 4 — National Police Deputy Director General for Operations Fernando “Jojo” Mendez Jr., urges barangay officials to remain steadfast and help the police in combating crimes and illegal vices and make Bulacan more safe and progressive.
Mendez, a former provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, was the guest of honor and speaker during the Gawad Galing Barangay held yesterday at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city recently.
He also congratulated this year’s awardees, saying their efforts are a vital part of nation-building.
“You are always on the frontline of government service. Always bear in mind that peace and order will flourish as long as village officials will lead with fervor. Always help the police in its campaign against criminality and in the maintenance of peace and order,” he said.
Mendez said that Bulacan is known for its noble heroes and up to this time, the province continues to produce such men and women in uplifting the lives and welfare of the people.
“Ipagpatuloy ninyo ang pagbibigay ng serbisyong maka-Diyos, makatao at
makabayan at pagiging ehemplong natatanging lingkod bayan na dapat tularan, lalo na ng mga kabataan. To the rest of our fellow Bulakenyos, let us continue to bring our beloved province of Bulacan to greater heights of peace and economic progress. Let us walk along the footprints of our heroes and continue with what they have started,” Mendez, a native of San Miguel and elder brother of Mayor Marivee Mendez-Coronel, said.
In his message, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that although the barangays are the smallest units of government, they are bigger in terms of the number that march in harmony towards achieving transparency, accountability and good governance.
“Mabuhay kayo sapagkat patuloy tayong pumapaimbulog sa langit-langitan ng mabuting pamamahala at patuloy na nagtatagumpay sa larangan ng pagmamalasakit sa ating kapuwa,” the governor said.
For his part, Vice-Gov, Daniel Fernando said that barangays are the backbone of growth and development.
