CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Tropical Storm Hanna rains contributed slight increase on Angat and Bustos Dams’ water elevations.
Latest monitoring by the provincial disaster risk reduction management office (PDRRMO) of Bulacan released past noon on Monday (Aug. 5) showed that the water elevation of Angat Dam as of Monday morning was at 168.53 meters or a 0.53-meter increase over Sunday morning’s level of 168 meters.
The water level is only 8.53 meters above the dams critical level and still 11.47 meters below its minimum operating level and 43.47 meters below its normal high water level.
The PDRRMO monitored a slight decrease in the water elevation of Ipo and Bustos Dams Monday morning compared to Sunday morning’s water elevation with Ipo at 100.93 meters and Bustos at 17.50 meter compared to the previous day levels of 101 meter and 17.51 that are both within its spilling levels of 101 meters and 17.50 meters respectively.
On the other hand, Felix Robles, head of the water control and coordinating unit of Bustos Dam, told RONDA Balita Online News in a text message that by 3:30 p.m. Monday, the dam’s water elevation has increased to 17.53 meters and has an overflow to its rubber gates at 2.54 cubic meters per seconds.
