MANILA — In two consecutive days, May 25th and 26th, HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) the Philippines celebrated the 6th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace by holding a fun run in three different locations to promote the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War).
HWPL, an international NGO, is annually celebrating the Declaration of World Peace Day which started in Seoul, South Korea on May 25, 2013. This year, about 77 countries in 126 different location simultaneously celebrated the Declaration of World Peace Day, including the Philippines.
“HWPL is working together with different organizations to mobilize a worldwide network of youths and citizens to promote DPCW and establish cooperation for building sustainable peace in the global society. This day will mark HWPL Philippines’ 100,000 peace letter campaign addressed to our beloved President Duterte urging to support DPCW,” said Mr. John Rommel Garces, HWPL’s Secretary General in the Philippines.
This year’s theme, “The World’s Call for Peace, Urging the Support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War”, aimed to get the attention of every Head of States, particularly President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the Philippines.
The DPCW was initiated by HWPL and drafted by international law experts to address peacebuilding through conflict resolution, friendly relations between states, civic participation to promote a culture of peace, and securing welfare and education.
During the commemoration held in South Korea, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL announced the significance of the DPCW by saying, “The DPCW that permeates the will of global citizens asks for the global community to become one under peace with respect on mutual coexistence.
This Declaration advocates everyone to cooperate for building peace so that there will be no more productions of weapons that kill lives and no more invasions of other countries.
While in the Philippines, HWPL collaborated and merged with Volunteers Individuals for Peace (VIP), United Runners of Cavite, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Kaakibat Ng Autism Society Phil Multi-purpose Cooperative to raise funds for different activities such as disaster-relief ventures, center for autism, hosting youth empowerment activities among others.
