CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A 36-year-old seaman was arrested for overpriced alcohol in an entrapment operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Bulacan together with Guiguinto police in coordination with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) along Maharlika Highway, Brgy Tabang, Guiguinto on Monday.
P/Col. Lawtence Cajipe, acting Bulacan Provincial Director, identified the arrested suspect as Randy Paguia Y Betonio, presently residing in Bantayan St., Brgy Panginay, Balagtas town.
Based on the report of Major Rito Sebuala, Chief, Bulacan CIDG, a police poseur buyer made an online trasaction with the suspect and ordered thirty-five gallons of Isopropyl alcohol for P700 each, based on the amount the suspect offers online which exceeds the suggested retail price (SRP) of P500 – P550 per gallon.
Seized during the operation were 35 gallons of unbranded 70% Isopropyl alcohol content amounting to Php 24,500; one genuine P500 peso bill; and 24 pieces of P1000 bill boodle money.
The arrested suspect is presently under the custody of Bulacan CIDG Office together with the confiscated pieces of evidence.
Criminal complaints for Violation of RA 11469 in relation to DOH Department Circular Nos. 2020, Violation of RA 7581 as amended by RA 10623 (Prize Act), Violation of RA 7394 (Consumer Act) and Violation of Section 7 RA 11332 will be filed against the suspect before the Malolos City Prosecutors Office.
“The Bulacan Police is stern and relentless in the implementation of “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” and will not seized to go after the individuals and storeowners who will engaged in profiteering, overpricing and hoarding medical supplies,” Cajipe said. (RONDA BALITA Online)
