Sec. Roque to grace 168th Birth Anniversary of Marcelo H. Del Pilar

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque is set to celebrate, together with thousands of Bulakenyos, the birth of the Father of Philippine Journalism and Father of Philippine Masonry, Gat Marcelo H. Del Pilar on August 30, 2018, 8 a.m. at the Shrine dedicated for him at Brgy. San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan.

The celebration, which is anchored on the theme “Marcelo H. Del Pilar: Bayani Noon, Ngayon at sa Nagbabagong Panahon” will start through a colorful and festive parade to be joined by public and private school teachers and students, drum and lyre and marching bands, journalists, Knights of Rizal, freemasons, residents of Bulakan and other sectors at 6 a.m.

It will be followed by a flag raising ceremony, oath to the national flag, and wreath laying activity before the monument of Del Pilar.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado believes that Plaridel, together with many other Filipino heroes, continuously inflames the nations’ heart through the remarkable legacy they have left when they fought for freedom.

“Until now we enjoy the freedom to fight for and fight the lives of Filipinos, including many Bulakenyos like Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Gregorio Del Pilar, Mariano Ponce and Anacleto Enriquez. The word is not enough to compensate for their great sacrifice but we can repay it by loving the people that even in small things we can prove,” the governor said.

The celebration is made possible through the joint efforts of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Provincial Government of Bulacan and Municipal Government of Bulakan. (RONDA Balita Online News)
