PUBLIC Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar leads the opening of the Araneta Avenue – Magsaysay Avenue flyover project in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday (December 19).
Villar was joined by Undersecretary Emil Sadain and Economic Counsellor Laurent Estrade of Embassy of France in the Philippines in the inauguration of the P32-Million two-lanes flyover at the busy intersection of Araneta Avenue and Magsaysay Avenue that are used by about 40,000 vehicles daily.
“Started in April 2017, the flyover is expected to eliminate delays especially for the through traffic movement at Araneta Avenue from downtown Bacolod City to Bago City on account of signalized intersection with multi-direction traffic and will also result to savings on vehicle operating cost and travel time,” Villar said.
The Araneta-Magsaysay Flyover Project is a 195-meter flyover that utilizes the prefabricated modular steel technology of Matiere S.A.S. under the French Government assistance program.
“The use of the technology is expected to reduce carbon emissions that occur due to the idling of vehicles at the junction during traffic,” he added. (RONDA Balita Online News)
